Zyklon, the Norwegian black death metal band that has in their ranks Samoth (guitars) and Trym (drums) from Emperor, have released their first DVD titled Storm Detonation Live through Candlelight USA.
The main content of the pro shot DVD captures Zyklon’s set at the Party San Open Air Festival 2004 in Germany. At the time of festival, Zyklon had two releases to pull material from, the 2001 World Ov Worms and then Aeon from 2004.
The band’s set begins with some daylight but as the show proceeds, the light fades and cameras tighten up the overall shot where the stage light becomes more prominent under the darkness. Material from both albums is fairly even for the nine-song set with the band executing a tight and crisp yet brutal set coming in just around an hour.
Along with the live footage, there’s plenty of bonus material from sounds checks, rehearsals, travel, an interview from the festival and band / fan interaction, a photo and discography gallery as well as videos for “Core Solution” and “Psyklon Aeon,” both from the Aeon release.
With the live material, videos and rehearsal footage, the DVD offers several ways to experience Zyklon and how the band can duplicate the intensity from the studio or practice room and transform it live on the stage.
