Review by Hawk Chavez
After twenty years the Swedish gothic death metal band, Therion, are still proving they know how to rock with style. The deep and powerful emotions are heard throughout the album. Personal favourites “The Perrennial Sophia” is a true example of giving it their all and then some, laden with intense guitar and drums/percussions. I closed my eyes and I am easily drawn in, especially during the guitars and drums solo, perfectly conducted. “The Wisdom And The Cage” I cannot express enough how amazing this track is, starting with the symbols in the intro… it’s like Pow!, in your face followed by the drums then a thrush of guitars blends in, about the time the vocals kicks in I have goose bumps (that’s a good thing). Thinking outside the box for a moment, “Tuna 1613” could be great for an awesome Japanese animation. While “Chain Of Minerva” intro sounds remotely familiar to another great artist, what I like about this track is how the band takes it down a couple levels. Still packed with emotions, it is much milder, milder to a limit. However, it does not last with the next song “TOF – The Trinity”, seriously another brilliant track, yet I believe it is faster than a jaguar. Listening to this track is my jolt of coffee in the mornings.
Gothic Kabbalah is one of the utmost brilliant albums by far, fans will have many strong emotions about this album but truly, it will leave them speechless.
