Review by Hawk Chavez
I have noticed once again, more bands are involving sessional instrumentals and/or orchestras in their bands to achieve the ultimate sound. Which is a brilliant idea; it gives Red a chance to explore their full potential of becoming a great band, if not greater.
End Of Silence is like a novel one just cannot put down, each chapter as in this case, each song draws the listeners in deeper. The intensity of the guitars, the power-driven drums and bass, with Barnes’s melodramatic nerve-shredding vocals it just adds to the flavor.
Seriously it is not feasible to pick one favorite. “Break Me Down” a familiar melody, is one of the favorite I would pick for best song that starts out on a soft rocking seductive level that keeps building energy until it reaches the edge and then daggles you in suspense. “Pieces”, “Already Over - Part 2”, and “Lost” these songs would be a perfect fit for a powerful chick flick movie that could make a grown man cry. Yet, the part of the best of these tracks is the beginning with the strings and additional strings intertwined with softly laden drums in “Lost”.
I suppose if I had to pick one, it would be “Lost”. Barnes’s melodic vocals are truly refined to the max, talk about reaching out and grabbing a hold to ones inner soul, this would be it! Then again, listening to “Hide” familiarity riffs and drums with melodic drama lyrics; then there is “Gave It All Away” the same familiarities with a mystifying spiritual flair in the midst of mid-hard rock.
