Orange County, California’s Bleed the Sky has earned indulgences after the hell the band has been through while on the Summer of Sin tour. Sudden illness resulting in the hospitalization of guitarist Wayne Miller produced quite a scare after the band’s June 18th performance in Louisville, Kentucky. With Miller now in stable condition from severe pneumonia resulting from an unknown viral infection, Bleed the Sky is back on the Jagermeister sponsored tour, which made a stop in Cedar Rapids, IA.
Alongside Manntis, A New Revolution, Makeshift Romeo, and headliners Dope, Bleed the Sky set forth on stage as a 4-piece at Emerald City. Forced to compensate for a missing guitar with the absence of Miller, guitarist Kyle Moorman successfully delivered his metal riffs. The heavily guitar driven tunes translated well, though it is clear that the addition of the second guitar would definitely heighten the band’s live performance.
Highlights from the performance include the occasional choreographed head banging by the band which upped the energy. Bassist Daylen Elsey, hair flailing every which way, was particularly entertaining. The combinations of screamed/melodic/death metal vocals were effectively executed live. Overall, judging from both the band's album Paradigm in Entropy and live show, great things can be expected from Bleed the Sky.
To guitarist Wayne Miller: Wishing you the best!
